PROJECT: Racecourse Road The contract for reconstruction of the unsealed section of Racecourse Road was awarded to JK Williams by Hawkesbury City Council on the 10th of June 2008. The date for practical completion was set 16 weeks from commencement of works. The reconstruction consisted of site clearing including removal of trees, bulk earthworks, stormwater drainage, construction of sub base with crushed sandstone and base with DGB 20, two coats sprayed sealing, turfing, line marking and road furniture. The total length of the works is 1735m. The road was closed during the construction and this has helped JK Williams to proceed with the construction activities in full throttle. All the materials which were used were complied with RTA /Council material specification. Despite bad weather JK Williams completed the project within 12 weeks, within the set budget and without compromising the Quality or Safety. Usages of Provisional items were kept very minimal and only few variations were issued for few additional works. Overall the project was well managed and completed with in the council anticipated budget. Majority of the line marking was completed and the road was opened for public on the 26th of August 2008 on the request of Council. Practical Completion inspection was carried out on the 2nd September 2008 and the project has reached Practical completion. The Council was happy with overall performance of JK Williams in this project and they want to see JK Williams actively participate in future council tenders for similar jobs.
